The Canadian Association of the Deaf-Association des Sourds du Canada (CAD-ASC) promotes the rights of Deaf people to quality education, starting at birth and throughout life, which the right to education is clearly explained in the United Nations on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CPRD).
Canada was one of the original signatories to the CPRD and education is under the Provincial Government’s jurisdiction, which each province must take the appropriate measures for facilitating the learning of ASL and LSQ where environment in Deaf education will maximize academic and social development and measures to provide qualified Deaf teachers for Deaf education.
