The Canadian Association of the Deaf – Association des Sourds du Canada has completed its project,“Understanding Your Privacy Rights: The PIPEDA in Signs”, funded in part by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. “PIPEDA” = Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, which is the legislation defining your privacy rights.
Suppose you are buying clothes. Do you also have to tell them your age, your phone number, or your blood type?
What personal information do you have to share with the store?
What if the salesperson tells you they need your postal code?
Can your text/phone service provider share your number to other businesses?
Are police allowed to request personal information other than your license and insurance papers?
